I've used BeetleSpins for 30 years, thats a lot of fishing, and this is one of my all time favorite lures; use it mostly for smallmouth on northern Ontario lakes. That being said, something has obviously changed at the Berkley/Johnson BettleSpin factory. They must be using inferior metal because every single lure this summer has resulted in a bent hook, and in a couple instances a broken spinner arm (rarely seen on any lure). Every single med to large fish resulted in the same bending hooks. That NEVER used to happen. I bent back a few, but that just weakens them more. I bought off of Amazon, Cabelas, and Walmart over the last 2 years with similar and increasingly bad results. Bend, bend, BENT!
I now fashion my own lures using quality jig hooks. More expensive, but they last.
