A great Moshi product

I'm a big fan of Moshi since it's early days. I like the idea of a built-in stand for my iPad but I hate the other bulky, book-like things on the market. This cover does not add to the size of the iPad by much (no worse than an Apple smart cover) and the folding bits in the back work well. It takes a little getting used to before you know exactly which way to fold it, but that's not a deal-breaker for me.

The only nit I have with this is I believe the case around the wake button (top right) might be moving a little bit. I've noticed from time to time I'll be using my iPad and it will suddenly go blank as if I'd hit the switch (not powered off, but sleep mode). This happens even when my hand is nowhere near the button, and it's never happened with before I got the case. Only seems to occur when I'm on the couch with it propped in my lap; might just me squirming around too much. Anyway, not a huge detractor from the case over all, it's strong points (convenience, lightweight) more than outweigh this slight issue.

Because of the nit above, I couldn't give it 5 stars, but I'd give it 4.5 if I could.

Great cover, but with MAJOR flaw

I want to love this case and give it a 5 star. But its biggest flaw is simply too major to ignore. First, the case itself is very nicely made, everything fits and feels premium. The magnets covers/secures the front of the pad nicely, in addition to waking up the pad as soon as you lift the cover up. When opened, the cover folds back and again, the magnet holds the cover onto the back of the case (this is related to the flaw of the case). The origami mechanism works well to situate the pad in a comfortable viewing angles.

With that being said, the biggest issue is with when the cover has been folded back and magnetically attached to the back of the case. The pad will sometimes shut itself off (sleep mode, not off). After some times, I realized it was due to the same magnet element of the Smart Cover that triggers the of/off, but when folded back in open position. While there is way to prevent this (by making sure the cover does not peel off while magnetically attached to the back), this flaw makes this case very unstable in various different situations. The cover when folded back, is some-what secure, but with some minimal movement, will come off, thus triggering the on/off issue.

If the mgfr can address this issue, this will be the perfect case.

I really like how slim this case/cover is. Hope there is a fix.

Great looking and functional case!

Pros:
- Case Looks Great
- Great materials, the soft touch plastic feels nice, the cover is a nice fabric like material
- Great fitment. The iPad snapped right in, all the holes and cutouts are right where they are supposed to be
- Solid stand. Having three positions including portrait mode is great and was one of my deciding factors for buying this case.
- Back Magnet. Holds the cover on the back when folded over, keeping it from flopping everywhere.
- Auto wake/sleep function, gotta have this one.

Cons:
- The cover occasionally has a tendancy to activate the auto sleep function even when folded over the back side. Its relatively minor and can be corrected easily, but it can be annoying at times.
- Leaves streaks on the screen in the pattern of the folds. Dont think this is unique to this case, as the smart cover did this too. In fact, I think its more the fact that the versacover wipes clean the spots where it touches, leaving old smudges, but only in those spots... a minor annoyance.

Other Thoughts:
- The stand angles are different than the smart cover angles. In "video" mode, it is angled slightly farther back than the smart cover and in typing mode, its angled slightly more up. The portrait mode is also angled a bit farther back than you would expect. The angles are all fine when placed on a desk/table/counter/whatever below eye level, but at eye level they lean pretty far back. There are other ways to fold it that might give you some slight changes in angles.
- Soft touch plastic is nice, hopefully it holds up for a long time to come (have had other types of soft touch plastic peel after a while)

This case is generally very nice. I have tried a few others that I have liked but was looking for something that I could bring to meetings but also use around the house. I wanted it to be slim but also protect it a bit if I were to drop it.

This is a very cool concept and generally works really well. The different options for having using it as a stand are very nice, but take a bit of figuring out.

The only problem that I have found is that the magnet that controls the wake/sleep function is a bit strong and will put the ipad to sleep from the back side when it is flipped open.

I bought this cover for my wifes new Ipad 4. We have never owned an Ipad but got some advice on not over-protecting the Ipad if most of your use will be in the home. Their advice was that the Griffin Survivor that they had was supreme protection but was bulky and had a lot crevices to hold pet hair and lint. SO, I bought the Moshi based mainly on internet reviews because no one I knew had ever heard of it. It is well made and the fit is excellent. The cover really does work as claimed and it has a good feel to it. You really get to enjoy just how thin and jewel-like the Ipad is. The on-off function of the smart cover feature works every time. It will definitely protect the back and corners from scratches, but its not going to do much in a 4 foot fall to concrete, so if if most of your use is inside, you will love it. I will probably buy a Griffin or equivalent for road trekking and heavy outdoor use. But for now, I really like this case and would buy again.
