I used to buy the typical "Sun and Shade" grass seed mix. But seeing as though Planet Earth is melting like a piece of processed American cheese, I've reconsidered: Why would I choose a grass seed which isn't a "Heat and Drought" mix? The answer, nowadays, is that I wouldn't. This 7-pound bag provides more seed than most manufacturer offerings, is backed by a great brand in the gardening products market space, and is offered at a highly competitive price. Sold!
I used this seed to patch my existing lawn in a ton of places. With daily watering, most seeds fully sprouted after a week to ten days, and the others after the two-week mark. The new grass quickly provided a thick and pretty green coat which blended seamlessly with my existing lawn.
It doesn't hurt, either, that I've grown quite brand-loyal to Scott's after I bought a competitor's cheaper fertilizing one time (which was one time too many). This is an ideal grass seed if you ask me.
