First time threading, worked great!2017年5月25日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
My first time attempting to thread a steel rod. I purchased the 1/4 - 20 Course thread die. Used a Dremel to chamfer the end of the rod before starting. This helped a great deal, and as I did more rods, I got better at estimating how much metal to Dremel away. In the beginning, I was too timid with the Dremel, which translated into a lot more work with the die to get the threads started. Once the die starts to "bite" there is no need to apply pressure onto the die, the angle of the threads carries it down into the work. Just back off often in order to clear chips and get that lovely "cracking" sound as the threads are cut.
Just what i needed2019年4月14日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I had to extend the threads on an electric motor thru rod as they could not send me the correct one. They sent a longer one which i could cut off. Only problem was that the threads were not threaded down past where it would be cut off. Ordered this item and used it to cut the threads down to where they were needed. Cut the rod and installed in the motor and my spa pump was fixed. Worked great. With the hex flanges you can almost turn it by hand and it really comes in handy to chase thru old threads to clean them out by hand.

5-40 NC Die cuts UNDERSIZE Threads!2019年4月3日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
Even though this die was supposedly made in Japan it will NOT cut 5-40 threads to even the lowest specifications. It consistently cut threads 10- 13 thousands undersize which were loose when screwed into a blind taped hole. When cutting threads this small 10-13 thousands under size is unacceptable. I was unable to tighten the screws because they were so undersized. Very disappointing!
One tough die.2018年5月15日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
This die is pretty tough. I can't speak to cutting a new thread, as I haven't done this with this die yet, but what I did do was chase a whole load of messed up steel threads with it. I had about 40 7/16-14 threads to clean up. I used cutting fluid, a 1" socket attached to my pneumatic impact driver a just wound this die down and back on each pretty fast. It cleaned the threads up really well and when all was done, my inspection indicated it looked to still be pretty sharp. I believe a lesser die would have shown a fair amount of wear, or lost some teeth with this kind of high speed use, but not this one.

didn't work2019年7月4日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I tried using this die, I couldn't even use it once. I wondered what the heck was going on as I couldn't get it started onto my work piece even though I put a bevel on the end in my metal lathe, looked into the die and the threads were not correct on it, there was no ease in taper to the cutting threads, straight sided for a bit then the threads just started at full cut in the die. I've bought a lot of dies over the years and encountered a similar issue on one once before. Anyhow, I threw this one into the trash as it was useless, I've purchased a couple made by a different manufacturer, they are on the way and I hope they're ok.
