It is supposed to be a 1000 pulse unit. My wife got less than 100 pulses. She used it twice and half way thru the second use it stopped working and when we tried to get a return or replace we were refused. I would never buy from this reseller EVER again.

I've tried it all for removing unwanted hair: shaving, waxing, threading, depilatory creams, electrolysis, even laser treatments. None of them have given me the results I wanted, especially on the wiry chin thicket. Electrolysis was painful and time consuming, laser treatments were too harsh and left me with indurated skin to the point that I looked like I had mumps...and even after multiple expensive treatments I still had a forest on my face. Since I'm female, the coarse and prolific hair is NOT welcome. I don't want to even think about the money I've spent over the years battling the fuzz. Enter the Silk'n Flash and Go. Best money I've ever spent because it works! The fine hair went first, then the medium textured hair. The coarse wiry stuff is taking longer, but I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel!

Speaking of light, this lamp isn't kidding about high intensity. I close my eyes and put a hand over them and can still see the bright flash, though those precautions keep my eyes safe from damage. The cartridge is easy to change and I got great life out of it. I've used mine for four and a half months and only just now needed to replace it. The amount of area you are treating will of course have an impact on your lamp life, but I've been treating the entire beard area from the crease of the neck to halfway up my cheeks and doing legs from knees down. I treat once a week--I'm sure if I had gone with the suggested schedule that would have further increased lamp life but I would rather make more progress on project Bearded Lady No More in a shorter time and buy an extra lamp or two along the way. The price of these does fluctuate somewhat, so put it in your cart and buy when you see a price decrease. I try and always have a spare on hand so when one lamp has reached it's rated flash life I can pop in a new cartridge with no delay in my schedule.

Update, February 2014: I have now been using this for over a year, on average twice a month. My problem area is the beard and moustache area, an area populated by coarse black hair thanks to the hormonal havoc wrought by PCOS. With regular use I am) only on my second cartridge and have seen about a 90% reduction. The remaining problem hairs are somewhat less coarse than they used to be and I am seeing a distinct pattern of decreasing hair density. I am hoping for total elimination in this area within another six months. After that I'll start working on my legs. I've just ordered a spare cartridge and remain pleased with the product as it is much less expensive and far less painful than the dermatologist.

Using these for years as well as having laser professionally done. This refill left these slight burn marks on leg, but only on this area in pic. Then just died way before 1,000 pulses were up.

I am unsure about this cartridge. I used it and even in the lowest setting I felt my skin burning. I did not have that reaction with the cartridge that is included when you buy the machine. It makes me wonder if this replacement is genuine. So sad I can’t return the item.

this was the first one I ordered, and by the time I tried to use it, it was too late to return it. the product is identical to the original, yet, it will not work. I ordered a second one a few months later but it did the same - nothing! I was able to return it, however, it's not about a return warranty, but about selling a product that they know is defective, yet, they have thousands of 5 stars reviews! probably fake.... typical of many products that have 'Amazon choice' in it. Don't go for those
