A few considerations: I compared the glass to the other Pyrex pieces I own (which are probably about 10 years old), and the thickness of the glass is about the same. The appearance (look and shape) has taken on a more modern design. The photos should be updated because the set I received looks different...the handles of the pans are not solid glass, but are larger with holes in them, making the overall shape/design of the pans quite different. The bright red-orange colored lids are somewhat unpleasant to the eyes...okay, ugly (in my opinion). I would prefer white, dark blue, or at least a darker red. The lids for the mixing bowls fit well. However the lids for the 3-quart oblong and the 8 inch square do not fit as securely as they could/should to preserve the freshness of foods inside. It seems as though the manufactures were trying to achieve a good design by contouring the lid shape around the handles of the pans, rather than covering them (as the ones pictured do). However, something didn't quite work, and they don't line up as well as they should...the fit just doesn't have a good, snug "feel." This is my main complaint about the set. While still fully functional, there is room for improvement here. Oh, and the pie plate is "standard size" (a very shallow 1 and a quarter inches deep). I wish it had included a deep-dish pie plate.
These issues aside, longevity and shatter resistance remains to be seen and will take time and usage to determine. I will most definitely update this if I have any "glass explosions" or other issues with the set that are worthy of sharing. There is a tiny "spider-vein" on the bottom of the oblong; I hope this is not a weak spot! :)
Pyrex is not what Pyrex once was. See the extensive dissertations in the other reviews; they fully explain the poor quality in the glass now.
I bought two sets and returned them both. It's not the fault of the external seller. It's just the poor quality items with (new) Pyrex name.
I blew up our old 9x13 pan on accident, i left it on the stove, and turned the wrong burner on... It exploded. My wife was really sad, i told her to buy this new set and no worries. But we are very disappointed.
We'll check in town at walmart and hopefully they have the old design still. Pyrex you should change it back.
I would normally return these but I need them for this weekend, so I'll have to make do. However, if I had known what they *actually* looked like, I would've purchased a much cheaper glass bakeware set w/o any lids at all, instead of this.
I've given 2 stars for the bowls and the pie dish being as depicted/described. The lids on the bowls fit snugly (although I wasn't really concerned about that.)
