I'd give this 5 stars if it was the type of perch I was wanting to buy as it is well made will undoubtedly be lovely in my new budgie cage. That being said, I was under the impression that it would resemble the photograph shown. I especially appreciate that it is made from coffee trees & are the pruned parts that no longer produce berries & I can only hope that the growers are able to pay their help a little better now that they can turn a profit from what was once considered "waste." For others considering buying this for their birds, keep in mind that it is definitely for small birds only! Finches up to budgies/parakeets as the limbs are thin & if used for larger birds, their feet/claws will wrap around it & can cause injury, irritation, infection & arthritis!!! I'm holding a gel pen next to a branch to show that it's not much wider. I'm contemplating buying a size up as I was hoping it could be posted like a tree from the bottom but as my cage is quite tall, I'll have to use it horizontally.

While I am impressed with the quality, it is a rather thick piece that would be better for medium to larger birds. I was buying this for its branches for my budgies and cockatiel in their flight cage. I am disappointed that it only was only a V branch.

I purchased the small (16") perch for my Quaker parrot. It is an amazing perch. The branches twist and bend in varying directions (up, down, left, right, back) providing a variety of heights and angles for the bird. The branches vary in thickness which provides good exercise for bird feet to reduce the chance of arthritis. My little Quaker can traverse the various thicknesses with no problem - even the 1-1/2" to 2" diameter thickest base.

The perch is solid wood. Even the small is good sized and takes up a lot of space in the cage. However, because it has the multiple branches that twist around, it utilizes a lot of the "dead space" in the middle of the cage. My cage is a open-top dome cage 26(width) x 20(deep) x 36(high) and the small perch takes up about 1/8 of the interior space.

I have it attached to the top - on one of the opening sides - so that when the top is open, the perch is above the cage space and the branches reach up above the top of the opening. When the top is closed, the perch sits at the top of the cage. Because the branches twist and bend, the perch is usable in either position - when opened, the bird sits on the horizontal parts; when closed, the bird sits on what were the vertical parts (but are now horizontal because the perch is hanging down from the ceiling).

For the price, you can't find a better perch. It helps exercise little bird feet, it's versatile, it's solid quality, and the bird likes it! One trick I did to encourage my bird onto the perch was to set apple slices on various parts of the perch. He had to step onto the perch to reach his favorite treat. It's also the highest perch in the cage, so it's desirable real estate in the bird world.

These are pre drilled for cages. I used the two I ordered for a redesigned coatrack for my daughters two parrots. I removed the two ended studs from the perch branches and reversed them to go into the predrilled holes in the top of the coat rack. I gave it to her about a week ago and have gotten positive feedback as to how well the parrots are liking it. Another good project from the granddaddy of parrots. Picture below.
