Basic, inexpensive reference mic.

We're using this not so much as a RTA mic, but for SPL meter software. It's a nice mic and you can get a calibration file on this exact microphone by plugging the serial number into Dayton's site. We're using it along with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo (2nd Gen) USB Audio Interface with Pro Tools | First interface to get the audio into the computer. The case is also very nice if you needed to carry this mic around to various vendors.

If I had it to do over again, I'd probably buy the USB version rather than the XLR version just to cut down on the clutter on the desk next to the computer.

From every test I've done so far, I believe this mic works as intended and the calibration file (downloaded separately) appear to be accurate enough for most acoustic tuning and design purposes. I've used it with a handful of different software analyzers and it is fairly sensitive. The small form factor of the sensor end is really useful for capturing impulse responses in unique areas. Measurement mics aren't the most glamorous purchase but are really useful tools, and this one works as it should.

I got this to use with Room EQ Wizard (REW) freeware audio analysis application. It was a little cheaper and faster to ship than UMIK-1, a very similar USB mic. Just plug it in, download the calibration text file, and use. It is sturdy and comes with a little tripod and long cable in a nice padded case. Using this with REW has been fun and useful. Maybe the best sub-$100 audio equipment purchase I've made.

Dayton Audio EMM-6 Mic works GREAT with DriveRack PA+!!!

I bought this to go with my DBX DriveRack PA+ and it works just perfectly! Nice quality build, perfectly calibrated and overall the product is just what you need!

Pros: great build, great price, carrying case, mic grip included

Cons: none so far

If you are buying the DBX DriveRack PA+, you need one of these to really fine tune your setup in the least amount of time. You can read my review to the DriveRack PA+ and you'll see that it's wizard is key for most DJ's on the run. Sure, if you have a sound engineer degree and you are really keen on fine tuning you PA yourself, knock yourself out, but the DriveRack PA+ does a fantastic job. With that, the Dayton Audio EMM-6 mic will allow your system to be finely tuned. The difference is night and day!

The build quality of the EMM-6 is great! Solid build, nice weight. Comes with a hard case as well, which is really good since you don't want to damage this bad boy.

All I know is that the EMM-6 does a great job with my DriveRack PA+, so make sure you pick one up as well. You could buy DBX's own model, but it's almost twice the price. The EMM-6 works just fine in my humble opinion.
