I won a coffeehouse and have used these thermometers for well over 10 years, straight. They used to be amazing, solid, and reliable thermometers.
Since about 2016-ish, they have been plagued by terrible quality/production issues. My last batch of 10 that I bought broke very quickly. Some 'spun' on the calibration nut, some just stopped registering temp, some had the needle spin or fall off, but they almost ALL broke within just a few weeks of using them.
I used to love the Rattleware 5" thermometer but I'm now looking for a quality thermo that won't break within weeks of using it.
Shame on Rattleware for putting out such a poor quality thermometer the last few years!

This thermometer adjusts much quicker than the one I purchased from a local grocery store. I had gotten used to stopping much sooner with my older one, but this has been great for getting just the right temperatures with things like almond milk that really shouldn't go over 135F. I find that I am able to steam to a much more reliable temperature than I was before.

The only real room for improvement would be in the clip that holds it to the pitcher. If it were able to be angled or pulled a little closer to the wall of the pitcher, it would help with those tight fits for those of us who have a steamer on a swivel instead of ball joint. Not really Rattleware's problem since this is more of an issue with my espresso machine which is why I didn't dock them any stars for it. I just thought it might be interesting feedback for them and others :)

Easy enough to adjust the dial, although their method of determining the correct temperature by boiling water is a joke - my problem with this item is that the needle moves in fits and starts - it won't move smoothly. It will pause then make a sudden jump. You'll be in the beginning of the green zone, then it will jump and you will suddenly find out your milk has already overheated and tastes terrible. It gets worse the longer I own it. Good luck with this thermometer, if yours is like mine.

Easy to Read and Accurate

I love the large face and the green and red markers so you know exactly how hot the milk your frothing is. It comes with a very long clip which grabs the pitcher easily and stays in place. So far, about a month, it's remained accurate so I haven't had to recalibrate it but I suspect that following the instructions will work. Rattleware makes good products for espresso and related uses.

One thing to be aware of is that the reading continues to escalate for one or two seconds after you've removed the pitcher of milk from the steam. Compensate for this and stop a second sooner. I guess if it were 101% perfect, the instant read would be a little better but I'm quite happy.

May be very hard to calibrate.

The first one I got worked wonderfully for 3 years. Some freak accident cracked the clear plastic and it started reading out some nonsensical values. The new one however, turned out to be impossible to calibrate correctly. I used the tool to adjust it to zero in crushed ice+mater mix and then in boiling water. Used my Thermapen to cross check the calibration points.

However, on use, it would read 10 degrees cooler. I like my Lattes real hot and bring it up to 160, this makes me overshoot to 170+ and by then my milk+cream recipe thins out tremendously. I need to check and see if it is consistently 10 degrees cooler and adjust my steaming otherwise recycle bin.
