Fast forward 2 years: She really likes this and uses it every day. It's bigger than I thought it would be but let's be honest. I didn't even look to see the dimensions in the product information. It's not a bad thing. Think of one of those huge mugs that you could eat soup out of... it's about that size. No matter. The point it, she loves it. Easy enough to clean. Nothing special or complicated. A good buy. If I drank coffee, I would get one of these and use the water from my tea kettle.
PS, my mom uses regular coffee filters and just pleats them a bit. She doesn't buy the special number 4 filters. Just easier to buy the regular ones and fold it. And you really don't even need to do that. Just stuff it in there and call it a day.
The only reason I can think more people do not have it because a)they mistake it for a plastic Melitta or b) HIC doesn't make an effort to sling their products everywhere.
You will do well to buy this coffee brewer, sturdy, easy to use & clean, and compatible with your $3/box paper filters.
Its also worth noting that HIC is a consistent winner in America's Test Kitchen for their ceramic pans both for price, durability, and practicality. Definitely a brand worth looking out for.
