Terrible. Don't buy

In the past I've bought many items from Monoprice. Always good price, good quality. I thought I was "upgrading" my old Monoprice 4 pair plate to 5 pair. I rarely write negative reviews but this item deserves being called out as garbage.

The posts are shallow so banana plugs won't fit flush. Instead they stick out ~1/4". Forgivable if that was the only problem.

The screw/post tolerances are atrocious. All of them are wiggly jiggly so it's hard to keep tightened. 3 posts on the back side allow the sleeves to freely slip on and off. I had to remove the nuts and flip them over since it won't affect a banana connection on the frontal. Terrible QC.

Don't even try installing these in a wall box. The faceplate won't come anywhere close to contacting the wall.

Cheap, and wrong size screws

These two-pair speaker plates were an inexpensive alternative, but the little bit of money I saved wasn't worth the hassle. My main issue was that the screws supplied for mounting the terminal block to the gang box (I used Arlington LV mounting brackets) are slightly too big in diameter. I had some extra screws lying around and compared, and it wasn't my imagination. As a result of that, and the poor quality of the screw head, it was all too easy to strip the head when installing. Like other reviewers, I found the terminals themselves to be a bit too jiggly - not exactly manufactured to tight tolerances. Once installed, the cover plate lined up fine and the end result looked good. FWIW, I bought some different wall plates (HDMI and 4-pair speaker terminal) from Cable Matters as part of this same purchase, and found them to be much better quality than the Monoprice version. In the past I've had better luck with Monoprice, but I wouldn't buy these again.

Beware! Will not fit standard Decora plate

This 5-gang binding post insert will NOT fit a standard decora escutcheon plate. If you are going to use it stand-alone in a single unit install, it does come with a plate that matches. If you are using it in a multi-device box (as I was) you will not realize the error until you are finished with installation and discover your 2 or 3 gang plate will not fit without masterful trimming.
Unfortunately, I realized this the day my return window closed!
This unit was also of much poorer quality than binding post units I purchased from MonoPrice in 2020. The binding rings were a more narrow gauge and did not have a groove in the top diameter where a broad screwdriver could be used to tighten the binding to the wire. 3 units I purchased in 2020 were different in that regard.

Excellent product

This speaker connection wall plate is an excellent, well-made product (as always from Monoprice). Both the plastic plate and the plastic molding for the binders are thick and solid. However, I made a couple of adjustments to better fit my needs.

The wall plate arrived with two red binding posts on the long edge, and the two black on the opposite long edge. My preference is to have the two red binding posts on top (short edge), and the two black on the bottom. This makes it much easier to simply look at the plate to determine left or right polarity. It was easy enough to readjust the binding posts from the backside using a 13mm (1/2") wrench.

I also turned the binding posts so that the wire opening is at a downward 45-degree angle. By default, the wires would come straight out the sides at a 90-degree angle. Changing the openings to a downward angle places less pressure on the wire connections, looks better, and it makes wire management inside the electrical box easier.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

Perfectly fine - if you own a drill

The functional part of this plate is fine, once you manage to install it. I encountered two problems.

First, the plate is not a single piece. It is made of an insert and a cover, kind of like a light switch. Unlike other reviewers, I had no issue snapping the insert into the cover. But, once I had put the insert in place, I found that the screw holes of the insert were much smaller than those of the cover, and the screws didn't fit through them. Product design fail.

Luckily, it's not hard to just drill out the holes. But then, I ran into my second problem:

The holes don't line up with the box in my wall. I have no idea how I was supposed to know that would happen based on this product page. To "fix" this, I put one screw in the hole provide by the box, and for the second screw I drilled a hole in the drywall. It's on my wall and seems secure for now...My fingers are crossed that it holds.

So, there you go. This plate is cheap, and it works, but you'll need a drill and a bit of creativity to actually install it.
