Good trap with a MAJOR flaw

Ok I've used this trap for 1 year so far. Fortunately we don't have a huge mouse issue but we still have a significant enough issue to Warrenton trapping. This trap works well and will kill multiple mice in a night if you have that issue. HOWEVER, when the mice start increasing in size they don't kill the mice. The mice will get shocked and dumped in the compartment below then wake up. Twice I found the mouse alive in the compartment below. Both times the mouse was a bit bigger then other mice I've killed. The second time it happened I pulled out the compartment below and could not see a mouse. I thought is it possible the mouse escaped but I didn't see any holes in the trap. As I start to pull back the trey the alive mouse chewed through the top part of the compartment and got behind the trey. That was absolutely insane! You wouldn't believe how fast I closer that trey so it didn't jump out at me lol. So this trap works beautifully for mid to small size mice. As the mice get slightly bigger you'll have issues with this trap. Nevertheless I still use this trap in the kitchen because the mice there tend to me smaller but I switched to victor tin cat for the laundry room

Probably a good product but if you are trying to use it in a chicken coop I'd look for something else. A chicken coop provides way too many other food opportunities for mice and they won't screw around crawling inside this. Also, the batteries die very quickly in a cold environment. I modified mine so I could power it with two 6 V lantern batteries wired in parallel and that gives in a longer lifespan, but as previously mentioned, the mice avoid it

The trap is located in a barn where there is an over population of mice running everywhere. So far the trap has only killed maximum of 3 mice at any given time. No sure why more aren't caught (especially overnight) - maybe the scent of a dead mouse scares them away, not sure. Only have killed about 10 mice in 3 weeks even though I change locations and place in areas where I know they frequent. After about 10 kills, found the light went from green to fast blinking red after about a minute when reset. So I removed batteries, cleaned kill tray/plates with damp cloth per instructions and replaced batteries, however, green light would change to blinking red within a minute after resetting. Finally took a damp Qtip and scrubbed plates thoroughly. After that it finally started working again but who knows for how long. Noticed urine in bottom tray with dead mouse so was wondering if moisture from urine secreted during the electrocution is causing the kill plate to short out. It is wonderful product when it works just not happy that I have never found the 10 mice in the tray as advertised and not happy that the electronics seems to be very sensitive and probably won't last long. I do have my receipt and Victor promises a 1 yr warranty if returned with receipt. Was really hoping for better results for the money paid. It will be very inconvenient to return the product for replacement and possibly have to same poor reliability. It does work better than bait killer and regular snap traps though. The mice are smart enough to eat the bait from the snap traps without setting it off and avoid the bought bait killer all together.
