So, if you went to the grocery store and reached for a pack of these drinks would you grab the one that's all dented and dusty or the one that at least looks clean and fresh? If there was only one pack left, and it was beat up, would you buy it? That's all I'm saying.
Vanilla: The vanilla flavor is nice. Of all of the ones I've tried it's the most obviously sweet and the coffee flavor is smoother and milder than I associate with Starbucks.
Mocha: The mocha flavor is darker and less obviously sweet than the vanilla version. This tastes more like Starbucks usually does.
White Chocolate: This is the best of all the ones I've tried but the hardest too describe. The closest I can come is that it reminds me of a White Russian (Kaluha with cream). Very smooth but decadent.
Spiced Vanilla : This is the only one I wouldn't buy again. Its kind of vanilla and kind of peppery. I can't discern what, if any, other spices might have been used. I was unimpressed.
But the main reason I’m willing to pay premium prices for a chilled coffee beverage is because I really enjoy the taste of coffee served hot or cold. There are several other chilled coffee energy beverages available and I’ve tried them all. I can’t say that I actually dislike any of them but for me, Starbucks has a much better taste.
Starbucks also offers a variety of different flavors but no pun intended, their “Coffee” flavored coffee energy beverage is my first choice. The reason for the superior taste is probably because they use Starbucks brewed coffee. According to the list of ingredients on the label, their brewed coffee is the main ingredient. Most of the other brands show their products as having “coffee extract” or other forms of coffee flavored concentrate. The ones that list brewed coffee as one of the ingredients typically show it further down list as based on the volume of each ingredient used.
To anyone reading this, I appreciate your interest. I’m definitely not going to tell you how you should consume beverages. But for me, gulping down anything other than water or beer will bypass my taste buds which lessens the enjoyment of any tasty beverage. By taking a sip of Starbucks and rolling it across the taste buds before swallowing will help bring out the rich coffee flavor that has apparently made Starbucks a favorite with millions of coffee consumers. It works for me and that’s exactly what I have in mind with each purchase of Starbucks Doubleshot Energy Coffee Beverage in the plentiful 15 fluid ounce can. Other results most certainly will vary.
