If you keep the empty cartridge, you can wind your own line and save a decent bit of money, like others have mentioned. I've been too lazy to do that so far because I don't go through it all that quickly, even with the occasional wastage, but I'll probably give up on buying the pre-wound refills in the future.
My only issue isn't necessarily with this cord as it is the Auto Feed of the trimmers themselves. It seems so sporadic when it feeds. Sometimes you will have only a little cord left and it will not feed new cord. Since its not a bump feeder there is nothing you can do to lengthen the cord. I did find that "whacking" a fencepost or cement area will feed new cord, but thats kind of ridiculous in my opinion.
The other issue is that sometimes it feeds cord like crazy if you accidentally hit a fence post or cement area, using half the spool in one application.
The cord itself is fine, does what it says, the problems are really with the design of the auto feed system of the devices.
Frustrated husband + Tool that doesn't work right = Job doesn't get done
So I ordered this spool to see if it would work correctly for him. Not only does it work, but he has none of his previous problems.
The tool works, my husband isn't frustrated, so the job is now getting done. For me, the cost is worth it now.
We don't have a large yard, so I will probably only have to buy 2 to last for the Spring/Summer season.
