This magnifying glass meets my expectations. The glass is clear and absent scratches, the magnification is very useful for reading maps, coins, small print, and the like with ease, the plastic construction is solid, and the high-magnification "eye" does not interfere with the primary viewing lens. Although the material is hard plastic, it seems like it would easily handle a fall from typical hand height. My kids have been using it without incident. I would buy this again.

This is what the item description says: Carson Hand Held Series Rimmed Lightweight Magnifiers for Reading, Low Vision, Hobby, Crafts, Office, Inspection of Coins, Stamps and Tasks It doesn't say there is a 5x spot lens. False advertising. I can read with it so I'm not sending it back. Change the wording on your advertisting!!!! The spot lens is less than an inch.

This is a great magnifier. I use it in conjunction with an Underwater Naturalist course I teach (PADI). It enables students to take a very close look at some small critters and see things that they would normally not catch. All plastic so easy to rinse off, let dry and store. The extra 4.5x circle makes a big difference!
