After the screw on an old pair of scissors rusted, I bought the Clauss shears mainly to cut the packing tape on UPS packages. I wasn't paying attention when I ordered, but the solid features of these scissors did draw attention after a few days of use. The tips were so sharp that I could open packages by sliding a scissors tip down the middle of the packing tape. This helps save the blades from wear and tear. The blades are sharp and incise cellophane and paper effortlessly. The screw is replaced by a plastic button, which won't rust. The inner surfaces of the handles have a serrated grip that can open a child-proof vial, and there's a bottle cap opener on one of the blades.
The only thing I would change about these shears is to make the rings a bit longer to accommodate large hands, but that's a minor issue. This is a great product with a thoughtful design. I will use something else to tear open packages from now on; these shears got promoted to my kitchen favorites.
