This unit is perfectly sized and looks sharp. The all metal case makes it look like it is ready to hit the road, and hit it hard while still looking good. The unit has a good weight, and the amplification is modest, with perhaps a little distortion after 3/4 throttle, like most mixers. For my Bose sound, I cranked my laptop to max and the speakers to half volume, and at 1/2 throttle it is very loud. I typically run it at 1.5/10 to 3/10. At 0/10 with the speakers at max, there is a little tiny bit of a hum which is there when disconnected from the amp, so this little mixer is very, very quiet.
If you are like me and have two or more audio setups on your computer that you are constantly changing between or if you just want a knob to turn up or down, you need to get this unit along with the appropriate converters and you will not ever regret it.

I'm an amateur musician in a band. We don't make "self-sustaining" money that funds our gear. Unfortunately we have needs as a band, and I have a gear addiction problem. Sound familiar? Pretty basic problem.
Given we don't have a dedicated practice space to jam out, we've been relegated to practicing at certain times. As a result, we end up not getting together as much as we'd like (and NEED to! Ouch!) There is some pretty fancy equipment out there that would probably serve our needs, notably the JamHub, but we don't have the hundreds of dollars to spend on one of those. (If you haven't checked out the JamHub, you should).
While this doesn't provide individual mixes, it is better than nothing for us instrumentalists to silently get our jam on. I have a mixing practice amplifier (Roland KC-150), so I can port in 4 instruments and use the HA400 from the headphone output to distribute the mix to each of our 4 headphones. (Alternatively you can use a mixing board). We can each dial in our volume on the whole which is more or less what we might expect if we were playing together in a room.
Yes, my solution above lacks the all important "Mo-Re-Me" (more me), but its a cheap start. If you wanted to add that functionality, that instrumentalist could probably get by with adding a personal mix monitor box (several are under $50), but you have to be careful with inserting less than perfect audio equipment into your main signal inputs. For practice, who cares. For live, you can probably get by, but if you're recording, that's a big NoNo.
As for the quality of the sound, I have no issues so far with it. I'm using Sennheiser monitor headphones and I'm very happy with the quality. As long as you have a tone stack on your source (in my case my Roland mixer amp) you have no problem setting the EQ if you're picky about that. Others have complained about the lack of bass, but I had no such issue. I'm happy with the sound just with flat EQ settings.
There are tons of other uses for this box:
-Watching TV late at night while kids are (slash-should be) sleeping, for up to 4 people
-Cranking up TV volume for hearing impaired
-Amplifying certain headphones from PC (low output) sources
Those are probably the big one
5 stars. I may buy another!
