The paper is uselessly thin and fibrous. It bleeds with the use of any ink other than ball point, and even that ink can be seen on the other side of the page. The current owners of the brand have cost accounted the quality out of the meat of this product, the paper. I now use a cheaper and higher quality product, the Leuchtturm1917 Classic Large Hardcover Notebook Dotted, e.g.
The bindings are on par with one another. The hardcover is not as hard as the Boorum & Pease, but the Leuchtturm paper is better than B&P's ever was. Pick what is important to you.
