Great in 10 gallon tank for Red Ear Slider

I needed a filter for my hatchling red ear slider's tank- he's currently in a 10 gallon- and loved the look of this filter but was concerned it would be too large for the 10 gal tank? Well, it's perfect!

The Water is getting cleaner by the day, & our little "skidder" loves hanging out by it & letting the small trickle of water run off his face! He is curious & sits near the bottom "ledges" but has not yet climbed it entirely.
Love the easy to see "min" & "max" water lines.
Glad I went ahead w/this purchase as we plan on upgrading his tank to a 20 gallon soon, & this should be perfect for the next tank as well!

I really like this thing, but I'd like to warn people about a couple things.

One... the holes that the water gets sucked into to be filtered are pretty big. I'd say between dime and penny sized. I had a little fiddler crab in my tank. Key word, "had". He crawled up in there and then couldn't get out and died. Stinky mess.

Which brings me to two. I then attempted to sort of block the holes with a small piece of wire mesh, like the kitchen sink faucet filter. That worked great, until they got plugged enough that more water was being pumped out than in. Once the pump sucked all the water out, that rock started to float and then would have tipped over, but luckily I was in the room and stopped it. It very well could have squished my little turtle had I not been there.

Anyways, I hope that my review doesn't deter anyone from getting this thing, I really do like it. Just don't try to screen the holes, and don't have anything in the tank that could fit through a penny sized hole and you'll be good.

This filter has kept the water filthy since I got it. Not only is the water filthy all the time, it’s growing some crawling black worms inside. I just moved so the water has been in there no longer than 2 weeks. I’m so disgusted by how gross it is I want to throw the whole thing out. I only have about 20 gallons in there so I figured this thing would be plenty powerful enough to keep it clean. I take out excess food, have to change the water way more frequently than I should. Only thing I like is the looks and how quiet and easy it is. In the photo, you can see the black things living in the filter. Yeah, those are live crawling worms.

I love this thing! This is the cutest addition to my turtle tank. I love that it is not just a waterfall, but a filter also. It is in my 55 gallon tank with two fulls size red ear sliders. They normally get the water pretty dirty but with this filter, it keeps it very clean. I have the 55 gallon filled up right below the max level that the filter can handle and it's a perfect amount of water for them to get a good swim in. I rinse out the filter twice a week just to keep it flowing clean. I would highly recommend this for any kind of tank that you have water in and need it moving or filtered.

We recently got a turtle and I quickly discovered they can be quite smelly lol. So I started looking for a filter system I saw this and liked that it looked natural and could be used for climbing in as well and the price was pretty. So I decided to give it a shot hoping it would work well. Here in some info on it.

1. It's a lot bigger than I expected. We have a 10 gal tank and it takes up about 1/3 of it, but I was able to arrange some other rocks and logs to make a nice habitat for him and he seems quite happy.

2. Set up was pretty easy and came with clear instructions.

3. Makes a nice water trickling sound but don't hear the sound of the pump at all.

4. Turtles are pretty messy animals I think so I'm finding i have to rinse out my filter every couple of days, if I wait a week it will get clogged. But it's very easy to rinse out, just pull it the filters and rinse then it with the sprayer in your sink. If the water isn't trickling enough you may have to pull the actual pump out and wipe it off, cuz slime and yuck can get stuck on it, but it's all pretty easy to clean and get to.

Overall I'm very happy with this filter it keeps the water nice and clear and it's a nice natural addition to a habitat
