Since I tried these and put them in my bathrooms, pantry and the last place my dog alerted me, i have had no problems. They caneither be laid flat or you can make a tiny box out of them so your pet doesn't step on them. The gluey substance attracts them and they just get stuck and die. Bonus is that it also attracts everyother floor crawling varmit. When part of the box fills up, I just turn it over. Change them about every six months.
advion Cockroach Gel Bait for even faster attraction and more certain kill results and monitoring. I know these traps are very sticky and the roaches can't get away once they are on it, and I know the advion attracts roaches irresistibly, but they eat it and go back into hiding to die. I want a system that shows me the results better and kills faster. Very simply I put 3 quarter inch advion dobs in the center of each trap and then a line of advion along the center portion of the seam at the top, so that the fumes can seep out and get widespread attraction to passers by. I then place the traps at known locations from previous experience, including against the back of the kickspace under the counter, behind the stove and refrigerator, and one at each exit to the house (eventually).
I am just putting these out today (Aug 1 2018) and will come back next tuesday with the results of this experiment.
Update: Aug 7... I put my ONE Tomcat trap on the side of the range pushed up against the kickspace under the counter cabinets. 3 large and 3 half size cockroaches the first night (this after having the Terro trap there for over 3 months!). I will put the other three from this package (bought 2 packs) in other places I've had the Terro (not so great) traps. The poor roaches smell the attractant from the Tomcat trap and the Advion gel and get caught on the stickup immediately... they must die a horrible death trying to reach that Advion which i put along the top seam of the trap, but they're stuck so they can't reach it. I saw another roach who had decided to turn around but got his back feet caught... when I picked up the trap he stood upright and his antennae caught the top and he pulled to the side and got his head caught on the side stickup... I think I've got a useable combination.
Update August 20:
Now with 4 of the traps in strategic places I've caught quite a few roaches and 2 scorpions, even though we have seen none of either. I also put the Advion alone in the corners, cracks and hinges in the under-sink cabinet and at the inner door jamb of the outside doors.
