I learned about welding a lot time ago. Didn't even realize there were different type of steel welding rods - only big and small. Recently, I needed to fix a brace on a riding lawnmower, so I bought a low end adjustable stick welder. Bought 6011, 6013, and 7024 rods. Played around with the different rods and amps and came to some conclusions: 6011 left hardly to no slag, but was very hard to strike at low amps on thin metal, 6013 left TONS of slag, VERY easy to strike, but needed the right balance of bonding the pieces and burning through. 7024 was a bigger version of 6011.
The metal I had just wasn't big enough to take the security of 6011 welds and was a frustrating mess with 6013.
Then I found these smaller 6013 rods on Amazon. They are the same easy to strike 6013-type, but can be used at a lower amperage. I've used them successfully down to 30 amps. I wouldn't weld huge pieces with it, but they turned out great in welding light gauged metals and are great at making artwork type things.
They are of course very small in diameter, but the same length as the other rods. You will burn through them quicker due to the less metal in the middle.
Highly recommended. Now, looking for 6011 in the same diameter.

fabricator's go to rod 3/32 specific DCEP2019年7月8日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
Probably the most useful electrodes ive ever purchased. I do a lot welding on thin tube mild steel that is usually slightly rusty or covered in millscale. It cuts through this with ease which is a huge benefit in prep time. Thin mild steel tubing is structurally solid, cheap but some of the most frustrating material to weld. With .060 wall thickness tube, its almost impossible not to blow through the work piece. I found these rods to be the most forgiving in this aspect while still fully penetrating. I can also make significantly longer welds without allowing the piece to cool. Running them on non-digital welder so cant tell you exact amps but its between 58 and 63. I can also leave these in my tool box for weeks and they run as good as new. No moisture sensitivity or storage limitations.
20 years welding expierience ,and I would say ok -not stand out great2018年11月3日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
They were put to use to referb a rack that needed 1/4 inch thick u channel and 1/8 to 1/4 ' steel plate welding. I was using firepower 6013 rods ,and switched to these once I ran out. The Forney weld ok , but won't strike an arc as easily and don't have quite the same penetrating bead. Wanted to try these because of decent reviews but they seem pretty much the same as any average rod. They were brand new out of the box, shipped same day I used them. Not saying they are bad just nothing stand out superior about them. A seasoned welder will adjust to these quickly but a novice will struggle a bit when striking an arc and they do have some splatter.
Easy Ignite, nice steady burn2018年8月29日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I have used these on 3/32 to 1/8 tube and square tube up to 1/8" angle iron in DCEP mode at around 50 A with pleasing performance. I turned down to 35 A to tack casters on a metal base. (Why bolt them!). The casters are 1/16" mounting plates and focusing most of the heat on the 1/2 steel substrate, i was able to weld them nicely without burning through the mounting plate. I've always like Forney rods period!
It Burns Well, but...2019年9月12日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I'm welding .065 steel, a bit thin but I don't have another means to do so. I like the bead but would prefer 7024 if I could find it in 1/16. The purchase lost one star because the rod box had been opened. I weighed it at 1.2 lbs, so it's all there, but I was concerned about the condition of the coating if it was subjected to moisture. It is a bit expensive at $10/lb, what with Blue Demon being $20 for 5 lbs, but I wanted to try it before buying that quantity.
