Then out of nowhere the wifi signal just dropped on all my devices. Now, my PC was getting only 3 bars instead of 5, and my phone(n/wifi4) was losing a bar at about 10 feet away behind one wall. Immediately returned it for a full refund and went with a different brand. Products deteriorating after only 2 days is not gucci at all.
I'm just glad Amazon has amazing return policy and returns for defective products is super easy and free. Also, I got a firmware update notification a few minutes after the UPS guy took it back, which I though was kinda funny. I don't think that would've helped anyway.
OH, ONE MORE THING! VERY IMPORTANT FOR FUTURE PURCHASES!!
Amazon likes to clump together reviews for several different products from the same brand and it helps crappy products piggyback off of other products' reviews. This page has 8 products sharing the same review rating. The "D-Link EXO WiFi 6 Router AX1500" only has one other review and it's 2 stars.
You can check this by going to "See all reviews" and under "filter by" change "all formats" to the product you're viewing.
I did a few recabling in an attempt to isolate and found no conclusive reason, despite my having configured and used routers and switches for 25 years professionally and personally. Am returning this switch to Amazon and buy a TP-Link model with which I have a good experience for over a nearly two years.
I had one simple problem. I have all the plug-in keystones in a "structured wiring enclosure", or a metal box set into a studwall. It also encloses this switch. That box isn't very deep, and I put an outlet in it for this switch, but the wall wart power supply is so elongated that there's no room in the box as it sits cross-ways to the orientation of the duplex outlet, and intrudes into the plane of the enclosure's cover plate. If you have this sort of power arrangement hidden in your wall box, you might need a multi-tap that effectively rotates the outlet ninety degrees, such as B001UE7SC8 (and others) here. Just a heads-up...
