All my stakes, for different conditions, are made of non-rusting material, which is usually Aluminum.
I got a few of these for the few instances where no Aluminum stake can do the job and stay whole or straight.
The Snow Peak Solid stakes are very well made, of steal, in Japan. Worked well in shallow ground (about 5~6") with rocks underneath. I got the smallest ones - 30cm (about 12"), and would order a few more if they had shorter ones.
I think the design is well thought out -- sturdy flat "nail head" for hammering, open 'ear' and a hole for tying. Both are large enough to use comfortably and with a larger diameter rope if needed. The finish is rounded & smooth, so the rope isn't damaged by friction or pressure.
The black paint finish is pretty good, but will eventually be scratched off. When this happens, cleaning after use, then a bit of long-term storage silicone oil, will prevent rust.
(Not WD40 or similar oils -- they only remove rust and expose more metal for rusting, they do not protect from rust.)
