i bought this last minute as a personal sentimental surprise for my cousins wedding. when they were engaged a train passed just as they kissed. i will blow this whistle the moment they kiss at their ceremony.

as for this whistle i was worried to death it would not sound like a train. to my surprise it does. it is very clear, doesnt take any extra effort or technique and is crisp, sounds just like a train. the wood seems sturdy and there was no splintering or chips. for the price, the super fast shipping [i got it in 1 day] and for the quality, i definitely recommend this train whistle. im ecstatic this whistle met and superseded my expectations.

Terrible burned smell that makes my son not want to ever play with it let alone try to blow on it!

It’s a great product for exactly what it’s purpose is....but it is very hard to get past the smell. It smells like smoke, which I guess is from the design burned into the wood? But this BBQ smell does NOT go away. It’s been over a month and it’s hard to put it to your lips to blow in it because you get it even a little close to your face and you feel like your head is in a campfire. Your hands smell like it and you can kind of taste it on your lips. My little boy won’t touch it because he says it smells bad.

I bought this for my son to use, but it is much too hard for a 1 yr old to blow hard enough to produce any sound out of it. He loves whistles, but seemed very disappointed that he was unable to make it work. (It worked great for me though.) Also, our brand new puppy grabbed it the other day. She didn't have it long, but the thin cheap wood used around the mouth piece crumbled very quickly under her puppy teeth. I was surprised that it was not as sturdy of a whistle as it had appeared.

Great Quality, Great Sound

There are a lot of bad train whistles on the market. I have purchased a few, but this one is fantastic. Sounds great and clear. The only downside is that my 3 year old who loves trains struggles with getting this mouth on the opening perfectly to make a very strong clear sound. Also like other repetitive whistles, one needs lung capacity to make a realistic sound and most young kids struggle with executing this.

i would get it for your kids if they love trains, just have the expectation that you will have to work with them a bit. But other than that this is a great quality and carefully made item.

I'm in a performing, rock bar band and I use this on stage to intro songs pertaining to trains. Since I also play guitar and sing, after I toot this whistle to intro a song, I purposely drop it on the stage. It's holding up great and still sounds perfect.
