We have a Nesco Gardenmaster model FD1010 dehydrator and have thirteen trays and only eight mesh screens, which really means we were only using eight trays. Using the other five trays without screens was so annoyingly difficult to remove the dried tomatoes etc. that we didn't use them. We ordered 3 sets of the MS-2(two screens per set) to remedy this non-use problem. The new screens are not the same as the ones we have. The new ones look as if they were cookie-cutter hot-pressed stamped from a sheet of plastic, and only three of the six screens had all the mesh openings completely open. The other three had maybe twenty-five per cent of the openings closed with a residual very thin plastic film on the back side of the screen, as if the press didn't press deeply enough to clear all the openings. These closed off openings are around each of eight equally spaced half inch solid plastic circles that are half way from the big opening in the screen center and the outside circumference. This is going to change the air flow and result in non-uniform drying of anything on the these screens and in relation to the other screen's drying time. I'm not going to bother with returning these, and will live with the three good ones. I did try using an orbital sander on the back side to see if I could remove enough of the back that would clear the openings but no luck.

7-27-12 - I have been using the three screens, along with the older original mesh screens, for a week now. I have dried 2,485 Juliet tomatoes and a number of beefsteak size tomatoes. It is much, much easier to remove the dried fruit from the three new screens than from the original screens. The older screens require bending the screen and popping the pieces off, but the fruit practically slides off with a gentle push with the new ones. Too bad about the closed off holes in the other three screens out of the six.

Material tends to buck and wrinkle after one or two uses.

I very much like the Clean-a-Screen, however, it has one drawback. After only a couple of uses, the material tends to buck up and get rough and uneven. I already see that I will be replacing these screens very often, which is going to be rather expensive. I have a smaller dehydrator and bought a screen material that I cut to fit (rectangular). It's much less expensive and works great. It's softer than the Clean-a-Screen, but since it works, why couldn't round screens be made from it to fit this dehydrator? I don't think the screen would wrinkle if made from the softer material.

Measurement Size is Incorrect in the Description - Not 15.5" they are 13..5"

Confusion lies in the description as it is not correct for the clean a screens M-2. They are 13.5 inches in diameter. They fit the 1000 series of Nesco Dehydrators. The trays themselves, on the Garden Harvest F1040, are 15 1/4 " in diameter. If the screens were 15.5" they would be bigger than the trays themselves. Please correct description.

I recently bought my first Nesco dehydrator and went about drying everything I could find (laughing). Since I have a small herb garden on my patio, I began with basil, thyme, sage, etc. These wonderful mesh sheets kept those small items perfectly while drying. Nothing fell through the mesh or the tray. Since I cut the basil leaves either in half or thirds to help dry, I had small pieces. The finger holes on either side of these mesh trays help you twist the tray to release anything stuck on it during drying and also helps to direct the dried product into a bowl so that you can process it for final storage.

I wash things like this by hand even when they can go in the dishwasher because I honestly don't find it to be a hardship. They wash beautifully and easily. I generally use a soft, round brush to hand wash things and it is perfect for these. Nothing remains stuck in the mesh at all. Just last week, I dried delicious Ranier cherries to rehydrate and add to smoothies in the winter. I cut each pitted cherry in half to speed up drying and even with natural juice, I was able to loosen each cherry and the screen washed clean in an instant.

I bought enough sets to use on each tray in my Nesco for larger drying loads and I find these to be economical and a necessity. I don't want to be unprepared for whatever I dry. These are very nice, and again, so very easy to keep clean.

These are just fine for what their purpose is. My only problem is that they are too large for my Nesco Jerky Express dehydrator. I assumed that all Nesco dehydrators had the same circumference-I was wrong. The solution was simple, I took a pair of scissors and trimmed it down by about a half inch and it fits fine, it just doesn't have that factory finished look to it. It seems like a great product for dehydrating smaller cuts of veggies but buyer beware these are about 13.5 inches wide, measure your dehydrator racks beforehand.
