Ms Ripley's experience as a senior specialist educational psychologist shines through in her excellent, evidence-based programme aimed at supporting young people with autism in their understanding of friendships, puberty and relationships... The sessions are practical, clear and simple without being patronising. Written for delivery to small groups... To supplement the sessions, the book contain 14 pages of cards to cut out (providing over 200 statement or image cards)... The background information and research material that is provided is engaging and helpful. Each activity is valuable and could be used as a one-off session if necessary. This is an excellent manual for any school needing to provide a more bespoke package of PSHEE work for students on the autism spectrum. (Maxine Houghton, SENCO Special Children)

The book is meant to be used as a teaching resource in a school environment and the topics it included were relevant and clearly laid out I liked the fact the resources needed were provided in the book so there was no need to search for them online or make your own... the programme is adaptable... From a parent's point of view, the book provides some good starting points for topics that their ASD child may well ask about outside of school. (Special Needs Jungles blog)

Sensibly the resource focuses on a particular aspect of the challenge that autistic student have to cope with: adolescence... The programme consist of 30 well-presented and engaging session plans, supported by a great array of detailed photocopiable resources... Ripley has presented an excellent resource for practitioners facing the most difficult aspect of working with autistic students during adolescence, supporting the need to build their confidence and develop self-awareness of their challenges, understand more about gender identity and puberty and "navigate the shoals of making and breaking relationships". (Conrad Bourne, secondary school assistant principal and SENCO Nasen Special)
