The website is great, but it's so awesome to have all of these works of art in person to pour over and over! Amazing - What a great gift this book will make - but gift yourself first. All the different styles of art, it really is an inspiration to me first as an artist but also as a chef. I love the design of the book - the size, the extra thick covers and I love how it opens up and each art/recipe spread out across both pages.

I purchased this book as a gift for my sister. It is a fun book to look through and some of the art is really neat. The recipes range from super simple sandwiches to more complex dishes. However, we found that it can be annoying to try to actually use this book to cook with because most of the recipes are not easily read lists of ingredients and instructions - its ART and they are scattered around and in crazy fonts looped around artistically! So for the couple things she wanted to make repeatedly, she has copied them down to put in her regular recipe binder. But it is a neat gift or coffee table book.

I decided to buy the book almost immediately after coming across excerpts on a popular blog, since all the recipes I could see were crisply drawn and helpfully described. The book in its entirety, however, fails to meet the same standard. Most recipe illustrations in the book were hand-drawn and scanned, and some of them suffer from sub-par image quality due either to poor originals to begin with or loss of quality during transfer. Even among the pages that were satisfactorily scanned, many of them don't really make sense and cannot really be considered a recipe but rather a lazy list of ingredients. That said, many other recipes in the book, including the ones I originally saw online, are very pleasing to look at and informative enough that I can actually make food based on the instructions. I'm guessing that since the book's a compendium from various artists, the variation in quality is inevitable. However, I expected more of the excellent excerpted recipes that hooked me in the minute I saw them, and that's unfortunately not the case.

It is whimsical and fun and full of great recipes. I just love sketches and this book is full of quirky and unique and fun ones...
Interspersed with the amazing sketches are great and fun recipes...tacos and cookies and eggs and all kinds of fun and simple things...
There is so much to look at that you will never tire of perusing the pages of this book!!!

This is such a unique book. One of my friends is an artist and also likes to cook, so I thought this would make a great Christmas present for her. She loved it! The book itself is very sturdy, with thick board covers. I think this book is more about the illustrations than the recipes, but there are definitely some tasty-looking recipes in this book. Highly recommended for a gift, or for yourself!
