I am so glad I found this book! My flow as an artist has lately needed a tune-up in terms of considering new techniques and mediums, experimenting with different styles, and so I've purchased twenty different books from Amazon in the last two months on a huge variety of art techniques and topics, that it's almost as if I'm enrolling myself in an art school of sorts from home! And though I'm tempted to laugh at that last sentence, it has been seriously rewarding because I've been out of school for eight years. This book is full of eye candy, and the artist/author showcases her work while helping you understand the "how" of in her techniques and tools used to achieve such stunning visual art pieces! I was mislead in thinking that most contemporary artists who have work that I admire, typically used acrylics as opposed to oil paints. But this artist uses oil primarily and talks about using both oils and acrylics (remember the old rule of "fat over lean"? I do. But still, I've never combined them in a work. I used oils when I was a self-taught artist studying English/Phi/Politics in college. I did a second run of college after that, studying only Fine Art at a school that didn't allow for the solvents associated with oil paints, so I haven't used oils since my dorm-room days)... I never thought I could be tempted to go back and explore oil paints, but artist is so cool and humbly talented, that I'm willingly to follow her lead... after all, if I'm truly immersed in this self-constructed "correspondence school" of the moment, Sally Struthers would appreciate my going out on a limb and expanding my artistic capacity with the ambidextrous-ness of painting in both acrylics and oils!!

I was expecting to get a new copy of the book like I'd paid for buy instead I got a copy with worn edges and a red stain on the bottom.
Didn't review the Worth of advice so I gave an extra star.(only skimmed to make sure there were no pencil lines. There were none)
