Torus Vin and the crew of the Stargazer is back. After the events of the big scam - the ship is getting upgraded (especially with a gnome weapons smith), the couple is planning a trip to the Observatory, and everything seems to be getting back to normal. Then one day he gets a message from Vevera with a proposition for him. Apparently she is more than just a simple courtesean, and she offers a chance to get back at the slavers he hates so much. However things are not as simple as it seems, as an inquisitor has been hired by the slaver council to search for spies and possible traitors - and the twist is Vevera is falling for her How can a man who is a pirate be able to walk the fine line between his honor and freedom.

This was a great book. I love the crew and the whole story behind it. This is full of action, love. angst , emotional decisions, and many choices. I hope the next book comes soon.

Tim and Eric have a Podcast now! Check it out at Elite 8 Showdown dot com. They talk about stuff and get mad and at the end there are some laughs. You’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear them talking about things. Also this book is good.

A Highly Satisfying Read

Pirate's Promise is a fitting followup to Pirate's Honor. While we still have the good old crew, we get more information on some smaller characters this time, and the original main people are developed even further. The adventure aspect is still high, with some great battles and promises of intrigue and tension. I love the way Torius's relationship with Celeste has grown, and how he and Vreva get along in this book. But I honestly think my favorite character line in this book was actually Vreva's. She intrigued me from the beginning in Pirate's Honor, and my curiosity was well-sated with this book.

The plot was the rich tapestry I've come to expect from Jackson, with three solid threads (Vreva, Celeste, and Torius) each with compelling trials and conflicts that were just plain excellent. And of course, they all tied together perfectly come the end. I won't lie, I want more of these books. A lot more.

I can't believe how shocked I was by the surprises in this book.
Things I liked:
I loved how it started right where the first one ended. I didn't expect that and since I didn't want Pirate's Honor to end and I got my wish. It was really nice.
The relationships deepen and friendships form plus there are shocking relationships in this story that are indefinitely more intense than the relationships in the first book. I was amazed by the intensity that these relationships burn and it continued to make me turn the page and not want to book down. That's what I want in a book.

Chris is amazing and this makes me want to look into his non-Pathfinder titles.
