This is the first work of Robin Burcell's I have read. I love the fact that she used her experience as a forensic artists. It allows for a definite touch of reality.
I can say I had to reread a few parts; not the fault of Ms. Burcell's writing talent. Well maybe considering I was so engrossed in reading the story I read to the end of the book not being able to put it down when I finished it was 5 AM. The story is fast paced, intriguing, full of adventure and mystery.
The violence was more or less suggested, and not described in horrifying detail. The romantic bud again is subtle, which makes it all the more interesting.
This was a fun book, if you want to get lost in a story. It is descriptive, and the action is fast paced.

mystery, thriller, action adventure kept me riveted2012年12月6日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
As many reviewers have already mentioned this book contains elements of conspiracy theory, the Masons, Knights Templar, Black Ops and the possibility of an act of terrorism. The main character, FBI agent Sydney Fitzpatrick is unwillingly at first drawn into this mystery. But once she gets involved she is determined to figure out what is going on. Elements of this story reminded me of Indiana Jones, Kay Scarpetta, Robert Langdon and Nicholas Cage's character from National Treasure. Sydney stands her ground refusing to return to San Francisco and flies to Rome. First she has to figure out the identity of a mystery woman found dead in the D.C. area, then who ARE these people she is working for? (Not the FBI which she is led to believe). In Rome, Sydney finds out that her anthropologist friend has also been murdered which has made this investigation/adventure personal. She has to learn who she can trust and what she needs to do. The character of Sydney is what made this book work for me. She is a strong, feisty character who is determined to "do the right thing".
Highly Recommend!2013年3月29日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
This book has everything: mystery, suspense, history, romance. When I received this book when offered free, the description was intriguing and in researching the author, I discovered there was another in this series written before the Bone Chamber. I found it electronically at the library and read it before this one and was so glad I had done that. Enjoyed everything about this book and series. I found that the last fifty pages are non-stop page turners and stayed up into the wee hours of the morning reading to find out how it would end. The ending was satisfying and I felt the book was a very good read. Don't miss the Author's Notes at the back where she gives you a fact or fiction look at the Freemasons, the Knights Templar and true events that inspired her story. I especially enjoyed this information which makes you think about the whole plot of the story. I highly recommend this book!
