Joan from Domremy to Compiegne2015年3月21日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
I have recently been reading quite a bit about Joan of Arc. This is one of many that tells the story of that remarkable young woman. This is historical fiction written in the mid 1800's and was probably intended for reasonably well educated juveniles of that period. I enjoyed the book, but it contained nothing new or surprising; probably worthy of 3.5 stars in my opinion. Joan's story is told from the point of view of a fictional young man who was one of her companions and who sometimes acted as a scribe or secretary. It primarily covers the time period from Joan's leaving her home in Domremy until her capture at Compiegne. There is no detail about her trials and the last chapter deals briefly with her death. There are better and more accurate books (both history and historical fiction); however, this one is, in my opinion, worth a read if you are interested in the Maid of Orleans.

I've heard the name Joan of Arc several times growing up, but I never knew who she was or what her story was about. After reading this story, I not only have leaned the story of Joan of Arc, which I found to be absolutely incredible, but I enjoyed this book imensly through the words of Evelyn Everett-Green. Her writing style should be commended and in fact be used as a teaching tool for those who want to learn to write. Throughout the book, there are often words and phrases used from the old world, but they are completely understandable and the entire story flows so well with no stumbling from a reader of the modern world. I also think this particular story by Evelyn should be mandatory assigned reading because of its historical significance, and I assure you that a reader who would rather play video games than read anything would greatly enjoy this work if they simply took the time to read it. I absolutly loved it, and I have discovered a great historical figure to admire. Thank you Evelyn Everett-Green for the thrill of the story through your words, and thank you amazon for making it so easy for me to discover another wonderful work.
First-Person Narration Biography of Joan of Arc2015年4月12日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
The old-fashioned style of writing in this biography of Jeanne d'Arc (Joan of Arc) will not interest most younger readers, but I liked the way the author used what comes off as the way a text from that era might have been written. She also makes the personage of Joan of Arc come alive through the narration of the protagonist who writes an an observer of what occurred in history at that time.

Lovely Historical Novel2013年3月7日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
This novel is written from the perspective of one of the knights devoted to Joan of Arc. It's told in old-fashioned prose, but it moves quickly despite the poetical descriptions. It does a wonderful job of depicting what it must have been like for a teenager from the French countryside to travel to the fifteenth century court of France with a message from God.

A recent book on a very old, still fascinating ...2015年3月3日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
A recent book on a very old, still fascinating subject, which offers much context. Perhaps unexpectedly, the subject is timely: Joan of Arc is driven, passionate, and her purpose, given as a sacred duty, is to drive our the foreign presence, not because the English do such awful things, but because they are foreign, and the French have become spiritually degraded by accepting the occupation.
