Gywnne is a young, fair maid who works in the castle. There appears to be doom and gloom everywhere and the knights are cruel and mean. One day Gwynne creeps downstairs when she hears the music. The beautiful sounds of the flute lure her outside where she dances with the animals and creatures of the kingdom. When Gwynne finds her way back to the castle, the knights are angry until they are calmed by the musical sounds and the beautiful fairy who appears next to the flute.
I really like the moral of the story. Girls can do anything and overcome the circumstances within which they are born. The illustrations are sweet and charming; they flow smoothly like the musical sounds. On the other hand, the rhymes sometimes come off as choppy and the storyline is not clearly delineated. I would recommend the book to young girls who enjoy fairy tales and motivational female role models.
