"Natural law" isn't, family is eternal, property not obvious, ceremony over content2019年10月30日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
Professor Maine traces the English and American law of persons, family, property, and contract to their earliest documented sources in Indo-European cultures as of 1861, with an update in 1905. As you'd expect, most of our currentl law derives from ancient Rome, but Roman law itself evolved considerably from tribal origins throug the Republican period and the post-Republican empire. Fascinating information, clearly explained in well-written prose. Everything you think you know about "Natural Law" is wrong ... love it!
Packed. Intricate.2015年8月21日 - 已在美国亚马逊上发表
PACKED and more. Intricate explanations that require reader's intense attention--but "it's there," if your journey to it is a bit convoluted. From a lifetime of study and learning by a learned man of substance. The main reference text for a Berkeley professor's class. Not a fast read, but an informative one if time is taken. The language is generally elevated-1800s, but with some effort it can be handled. Usually. A piece of work.
